29-Jul-2010 ZKBC would like to invite you and friends to participate in a Vajrasattva Chang Chog Puja on 29th August (Sunday) at 3pm in memory of all those who have departed. The 7th lunar month is extremely meaningful and beneficial for us to create merits and dedicate to all those beloved relatives and friends who have passed away.

The benefits of doing Chang Chog Puja is that the merits accumulated from making offerings are dedicated to the deceased to help them in their karma purification and liberation. It is believed that the prayers and chanting will help to pacify the dead and wandering spirits in the intermediate or Bardo states to relieve them of their sufferings.

Traditionally, lamps are also offered as a dedication to the dead in order to guide them through the bardo by wisdom light. We can pray as well that this light guide all beings of the six realms, removing their obscurations so that they may awaken to their true wisdom nature. With genuine faith and devotion, visualize that with your offerings, countless offering goddesses offer immeasurable lights to all enlightened beings. (Lamp offerings on behalf of each family is $10, for individual is $5 and for Company is $18)

Attached is the Chang Chog Registration Form together with Karmic Debtors Registration which you can use to fill up and send together with your cheque to Zurmang Kagyud Buddhist Centre or you may call personally at the centre and register with our Resident Lama Tsewang(presently in Taiwan, will be back by 20th August) or Lama Kunkjab. It is advisable to give them a call before going down to the centre just in case they may be out attending to other matters or doing house blessings. Thank you and we appreciate your support and attention.

Dear Friends,

We are happy to inform that on 6th June 2010 Sunday ZKBC (Rinpoche and Lamas) will be conducting the Naga Puja, making offerings to the Nagas (snakes, water dragons).

Nagas can be wisdom holders, and can also cause skin diseases, depletion of life force energy and other obstacles.  It is wise to make offerings to Nagas, when disturbing the earth for any reason.  It is believed that one's present wealth, fame, health, confidence, merits will improve, obstacles and sickness will be eliminated, one will always meet good friends and master, has a happy harmonious family with pleasant looking and intelligent children, there will be fine weather in the region with sufficient rainfall, good harvest, and the country will enjoy peace and harmony. Last but not least one will accomplish one's practices.

Rinpoche and lamas will make offerings to the 8 Naga Kings and their retinues including deities who are in charge of different oceans, lakes, rivers, streams and well in order to appease them, so as to help us fulfill our wishes and increase our merits.

We should also dedicate the merit both toward the fulfillment of our aspiration, and also for the benefit of all sentient beings.  For example, if one wishes to be free from a particular suffering such as a skin disease, the Naga offerings made should be dedicated to the peace and well being of the injured Nagas, and the aspiration can be made that by this offering may all beings afflicted by the wrath of the Nagas be forgiven for their mistakes and may they meet with the cesssation of their ailments etc.  Similarly one should pray: May all beings awaken to the heart of enlightenment by this generosity and may this Naga offering assure prosperity for all beings.

The Naga Wealth Vase is available for sponsorship at $38 each. (Ferry +$12)
As the ferry has limited seats, please register early to avoid disappointment.  Going out to the sea to do the offering is not compulsory as Rinpoche and the lamas are able to do on your behalf.  The aspiration and the motivation is more important.  Please note that all those going on board the ferry to participate must observe being a vegetarian for that day.

The time & venue for boarding the ferry will be announced to you during the May Grand Puja at Futsing Association Bldg. (May 27th to 30th).

Thank you very much for your attention.

jennythia

Appeal from Gharwang Rinpoche

In view of the Qinghai Earthquake which has devasted the lives of many families in the Yushu County, Gharwang Rinpoche has called and is appealing to all Zurmang Centres to help lend some support to the bereaved.

The Lamas and Rinpoches of Zurmang Monasteries in both Qinghai and Lingdum are offering prayers daily for the victims. Many of the Lamas are also physically helping in the rescue efforts.

Rinpoche hopes to raise some funds for the victims' families to help relieve some of their financial sufferings.

We, therefore appeal to all Zurmang devotees and friends to help show our support to those who are in mourning, besides offering prayers.

Any amount of contribution, even a dollar from the heart filled with love and compassion will definitely go a long way to soothe the pain and sufferings of the bereaved. The donation box is available in ZKBC centre or you may contact our Resident Lamas at

Please request for acknowledgment receipt, if necessary.

Please do not issue cheque to the centre for this purpose as the funds raised will be sent directly to Qinghai. A committee has been formed in Zurmang Qinghai to handle this "Earthquake Disaster Fund Raising", we are waiting for Gharwang Rinpoche to provide the account details.

For those of you who wish to donate directly instead of through our centre, the account details are given below by Rinpoche. However, for record purposes, we would appreciate if you could advise us through email of your direct donation to the said account.  Thank you very much for your time and support.

The basic purpose of any dharma practice is to purify all karmic obstacles, to increase and enhance one's accumulation of merits and wisdom and puja is one of the most helpful ways of practice....
Even the simple offering of a lamp to all the Buddhas & Bodhisattvas with the sincere motivation of wanting all beings to be free from disturbing emotions gives immeasurable merits, as taught in several Sutras, such as "Sutra of the Essence of the Earth", "Tune of Brahma Sutra", "Arya Maitreya Sutra" and also the "Root Tantra of Chakrasamvara"..
The lamp symbolizes the light of wisdom that dispels the darkness of ignorance.

We look forward to seeing you...

09-Nov-2009 Gharwang Rinpoche Program from 26th to 29th November 2009

Gharwang Rinpoche will be arriving on 25th November 2009 to conduct four days Dharma program at Ngee Ann Cultural Centre Auditorium from 26th Nov to 29th Nov. 2009 covering teachings, 21 Zambala Puja with Initiations and Tarayogini Initiation.
It is said that in these difficult times plagued with natural disasters and disruptions to one's inner peace, it is particularly important to receive these initiations/blessings to overcome such obstacles and to enjoy a smooth progress in life and in one's practice as well as to accumulate merits and wisdom.

Kindly take note that the teachings on 26th and 27th Nov. which starts at 7.30pm, Rinpoche will be discussing on the Zurmang Lineage' Four Foundation Practices which will probably cover the Vajrasattva and Guru Yoga. We are extremely fortunate to be able to hear this directly from Gharwang Rinpoche who is the Holder or Head of Zurmang Kagyud Tradition which is essentially the supreme lineage of Drupgyud Karma Kamtsang also known as Khandro Nyengyud. ("Nyen" literally means whispering and "gyud" refers to lineage and Khandro means dakini.)

Tilopa was the first to receive The Dakini Hearing Lineage teachings from Vajrayogini--the principal dakini and consort of Cakrasamvara. Naropa received the teachings from Tilopa who transmitted the essence orally to Marpa and restricted the teachings to a single lineage holder for 13 generations. The lst Gharwang(known as Trung Mase) was the 13th generation, after Tilopa pledged to return upon obtaining teachings from the Celestial Buddha Vajradhara. First Gharwang was recognised by 5th Karmapa Deshin Shegpa.

The present 12th Gharwang Rinpoche was recognised by 16th Karmapa. Since the 14th century, there have always been a very close and intimate link between the Karmapa and Gharwang incarnates. So much so, the present 17th Karmapa is waiting to receive the transmission of Zurmang Khandro Nyengyud from Gharwang Rinpoche himself.

It would be good and auspicious not to miss this teaching which is filled with lots of blessings!

Due to circumstances beyond our control, for those who chose to drive during those days of the program, you are kindly requested to park at UE Square, Park Mall or Fort Canning Park as the basketball Court is not available from 23-30 Nov. 2009. (Advised by Ngee Ann Cultural Centre). We apologise for the inconvenience caused.

Thank you for your patience.

30-Mar-2009 Dear Dharma Bros & Sis,

As taught by our Gurus, the cause of happiness and good fortune is our merits, so ZKBC would like to encourage everyone to participate in the weekly 21 Praises Tara Puja & Mahakala on Sunday @ 3pm.

Tara is known as the Mother of all Buddhas because she is the wisdom of reality from which all the buddhas and bodhisattvas are born. The Tara Puja includes offerings and requests to Mother Tara to help us to overcome the inner and external obstacles to our spiritual development and to achieve success in our Dharma practice. Therefore it is extremely meritorious to make a lamp offering to Mother Tara!

You may write whatever you wish to dedicate to and hand to Lama Tsewang before the program. Dedication of merits will be read by Lama Tsewang at the end of each session. (Lamp offering is $10 per family)

Another good news is our Resident Lama Tsewang will be conducting Tibetan classes every Sunday from 2pm to 3pm (that is before the Tara/Mahakala Puja), starting this coming Sunday 5th April 2009

All are welcome!

Thank you.

With metta,

All are welcome to ZKBC to do the weekly Friday practices @ 8.30 pm on Guru Yoga, Tara & Mahakala. The energy or power of blessings increases and multiplies according to the number of people joining in the practices.....

Please don't worry about not knowing how to do, our Resident Lama Tsewang will be able to explain to you..all you need is to ask. It is always the wish of our Guru, Gharwang Rinpoche to see that whatever he has been teaching all these years have been put to practice, especially the Lineage of Trung Mase!
