Today the practice of mindfulness is becoming very popular in many parts of the world, and there could be many reasons why many people are embracing this
practice seriously in their daily lives. In my opinion, it is due to the kind of lifestyle in which many individuals are dwelling today. For instance, people are getting busier and working overtime almost everyday which is making everyone very tired and stressed out. The practice of mindfulness definitely helps individuals who are looking for temporary relief from stress-related problems. However, for a Buddhist, besides the benefits of temporary relief, most important is to attain liberation from cyclic existence, which refers to the cycle of rebirth, old age, sickness, and death. Moreover, this practice of mindfulness has been practiced in Buddhism for more than 2500 years, and this practice has been a way of life for many Buddhist followers. To beginners, the practice of mindfulness may sound difficult and strange at first, however, if we get used to the practice, then the practice of mindfulness becomes easier as time goes by. There are many points that we have to remember. Above all, we should never let our focus and concentration get away from us, because this will affect the usefulness and effectiveness of our practice. We may let our mind wander or our mind may become active, but as long as we are fully aware of our surroundings and the well-being of our mind, then personally I think this is one of the most important parts of the skill that we all have to master.
