Social Status is a Form of Suffering

We are all living in an artificial world and for most of us, our main concern is how we look, how much we own and what is our status in society. We are also very brand-conscious and all these make us vulnerable and weak. First, it is difficult to get, second, harder to maintain and thirdly, easy to lose. When we look deep inside our heart, nothing really matters and without owing all those, we can still be happy and a complete human being.

Truly speaking, what we lack is true love and respect for each other; for instance, if we really care from our heart then why we inflict so much pain for little gain and dreaming for unrealistic goals in life. In addition, I do agree with you to a certain extent about the branded quality. As some of the branded goods do last longer, but desiring too much of brand conscious stuff can sometimes become part of a problem and not a solution. Moreover, when we start to look for a status in society, then most likely, this is the beginning of suffering and an end could be a distant dream. Finally, it is nothing wrong to enjoy life, however, if we need to enjoy at the expense of long sufferings, then I will rather settle for a little happiness than long and lasting pain. In conclusion, be happy as who you are and please don’t take your happiness for granted, as it is hard-earned, not given.
