Pain does not give us pleasure and we do not wish to associate with suffering in our daily lives.
However, misery sometimes conveys messages which can be helpful to resolve other problems. For instance, sometimes when we experience a headache, this situation enables us to discover other bigger health issues we may have. Thus, we might not like the pain, but sometimes certain kinds of suffering can help us to avoid more serious problems. Therefore, we have to look at the whole situation and not just one narrow angle.

According to Buddhist belief, the Buddha taught 84,000 teachings during his lifetime. If we wish to practice to make our lives more meaningful, then all those teachings can be put into practice in two ways. Firstly, we should cultivate virtuous acts without limit and avoid all forms of non-virtuous actions. Secondly, through the practice of meditation, we must tame our wild monkey minds. This is the true dharma.
