As an ordinary person, when we are faced with difficulties in everyday life,
it is quite normal to look for support from family and friends. However, they themselves being in similar situations, we can expect only limited help from our loved ones. According to many gurus who have shared their own experience, when we embrace the practice of contemplating impermanence, we are able to lighten the load of our difficulties. For instance, when we are confronted with certain challenging circumstances, many individuals might feel very depressed, since such situations may be beyond their ability to quickly resolve. But when we fully embrace the positive effects of the practice of contemplating impermanence, we may not only be able sail through the stresses of everyday life, but also be able to manage the results of our negative karma. Therefore, for a Buddhist, the practice of contemplating impermanence is one of the most powerful tools for bringing about happiness and overcoming the ill-effects of our past wrong doing.
