Humans and non-humans are all imprisoned by negative emotions such as anger, attachment, ignorance, pride, and jealousy. We cannot really say that one is

less evil than the other, but in today’s working environments, jealousy is the one which is ruining the lives of many individuals. The negative effects of jealousy are tremendous and ruthless, destroying relationships and friendships. In my opinion, today when we look around, within families and among friends and spirituals friends, jealousy is pulling us apart and not bringing us together. I personally feel that it is important for us to support each other with love and respect as a friend, guru, student or family member. This support is not a liability because such an attitude will benefit our relationships and friendships in the long run. No one owns anyone and everybody has his or her own freedom to do as they wish. What really matters is enhancing mutual respect, love, and understanding, and respecting each other’s views and freedom. Thus, we should view our friendships or relationships as an important and meaningful way to enrich our happiness and to develop genuine love and care rather than seeing each other as property. Otherwise these profound friendships or relationships will become a liability and our own prison.

True satisfaction is hard to come by, especially if we depend on and expect too much from others to satisfy our needs, because everyone is thinking the same way. We have to be realistic when we are living in such a chaotic environment, where everyone is trying to grab a piece of the same cake. If we have unrealistic expectations, then at the end of the day, we will only bring ourselves pain, and we cannot blame anyone else. After all, there is no magic bullet, and in my opinion, by knowing what is physically possible and achievable, we should pursue reasonable goals regardless of success or failure. With this attitude, we can at least move forward, rather than pinning our hopes on humanly impossible goals.
