THE ANNUAL GRAND MAHAKALA PUJA IN LINGDUM MONASTERY, SIKKIM(Dec 1st to 7th 2012). EVERYONE IS WELCOME TO PARTICIPATE EITHER IN PERSON OR YOU CAN PARTICIPATE BY MAKING OFFERINGS AND IN THE SPONSORSHIP OF THIS GRAND EVENT TO RECEIVE GREAT BLESSINGS FOR THE COMING NEW YEAR!

Why is it important?

The Grand Mahakala Puja is one of the skilful means and activities of the Buddha that brings great benefits to the participants. In Tibetan Buddhism, every practitioner of Vajrayana Tradition requires Lama, Yidam & Dharmapa (Protectors). The protectors pacify obstacles in the practice, protect the practitioners from all negative influences and forces.

The Grand ceremony is considered the greatest annual event by many monasteries. It requires many days of preparation and is conducted for a period of about 7 or 8 days. On the last day, the tormas will be thrown into a fire. This signifies that all our defilements, negative influences together with maras and obstacles are burnt with the wisdom fire.

In the monastery, the event is performed with a whole day of Lama Dances, for purification and removal of obstacles for the coming new year!

By participating in this Grand Mahakala Puja, it is said that one can remove all kinds of obstacles whether it is caused by human or natural disasters, one will also be protected from charm, from attack by spirits and from curses by wicked beings.

The most significant benefit as taught is that one will accumulate great amount of merits and undergo purification of the defilements. As Mahakala is also regarded as a wealth deity, it is believed that wealth will be bestowed such that the daily material needs and necessities in life’s survival will be taken care of in order to practice the Dharma.

Lamp Offering for the whole duration of 8 days = S$50 (individual) or S$100 (family)

Offerings to all the 333 Lamas a day = S$500 ( includes lamp offerings)
