There is so much to learn and acquire in our lives in terms of knowledge and wisdom,
and we may have a continual interest in learning, however, our lifespan may not permit us to do everything that we might wish to do, because we are among those impermanent things, which change every moment and every second. Therefore, it is in our interest to learn whatever we can, and how much we are able to understand and learn is up to our own capacities, so we should try our best to grasp the essence of whatever we learn.
Learning and listening are a very important part of any belief system, because such practices will enhance our knowledge and wisdom. However, what is most important is to follow wholeheartedly what we have learned and listened to—that is where our successful and meaningful future lies. We may come across individuals who claim to be the best in terms of knowledge and achievement, but the moment we see how they act in their daily lives, we may realize that they are simply dancing on empty words. Without respect, love, kindness, and compassion for others, knowledge and wisdom are just a beautiful house built from thin paper, which has no value or meaning.
We are brought up to put ourselves first and others second, and this attitude has remained with most of us since we were very young. In order to make our lives more successful and meaningful, we have to engage with others wholeheartedly, because without the helping hands of others, nothing will be beautiful and successful in our future. Just as we cannot produce the sound of clapping without both hands, similarly it is difficult to bring about future success without the mutual cooperation and respect of others. Therefore, it is in our interest to work with others to achieve success together and fulfill our dreams.
