Khenpo Pachap Teaching Schedule

on 13th & 14th Nov. 2010 (Sat. & Sun)

Khenpo Pachap is the Principal Khenpo of Zurmang Buddhist Institute, Lungtok Norbu Gyaltshen at Lingdum Complex, East Sikkim, India. He is expected to visit all the Zurmang Kagyud Budhist Centers in Asia to share some of his experiences and knowledge in Buddha Dharma with us. A scholar of Buddhist philosophy, he would also like to conduct some Dharma activities such as Nyung Ne/Nyen Ne(fasting ritual with meditation) and Zhingdrup.(7 Branch Prayer to request for Accomplishment in order to seek rebirth in Amitabha Pureland)

The Nyung Ne practice is one of the most profound and beneficial practices of 1000-armed Avalokitesvara. It is the best practice for ordinary people who are unable to keep the precepts for their whole life.

The two-day practices is considered as “a set” of practices. The 8 Mahayana Precepts must be duly observed for both days.

However, the Vows must be taken before sunrise every morning for those two days (as they are only taken for 24 hours). Meals like breakfast and lunch can be taken before noon.

Taking vows and taking the 8 Precepts have tremendous merits! So as ordinary lay people, it is very beneficial and extremely meritorious to practice taking of the 8 Precepts.

As mentioned in the Sutra, the accumulation merits through the practice of just one “Clean Dramze” is much more than having hundred thousand ordinary people practising. And if one is ordained and keeps the precepts well, his accumulation of merits will be more than a hundred thousand “Clean Dramze” .

Nyen Ne practice is for only one day with half fasting but same practice with Nyung Ne.

It is said that whoever practices sincerely with faith and devotion, confidence and concentration a hundred set or at least eight sets of Nyung Ne during one's life time, it is a certainty to be reborn in Amitabha Pureland when one dies. And minimum practice of one set of Nyung Ne with pure motivation, will purify all the bad karmas which cause for rebirth in the lower realms and so will never reborn in lower realms. And through the blessings of Avalokitesvara, wherever one takes rebirth, one will always have auspicious precious human rebirth, meet the Buddha Dharma and eventually will achieve enlightenment.

The Eight Mahayana Precepts to observe during Nyung Ne/Nyen Ne:

1 No killing

2 No stealing

3 No sexual misconduct(no sexual activities)

4 No lying

5 No drinking liquor

6 No using high value and size for chair and cushion (not sit or sleep on precious quality and higher than one foot chair or cushion)
