Many dharma friends seem to ask the same question again and again. Am I practicing the right way?
How can I know if I am practicing in the right way? In fact, this is difficult to answer from this question in isolation, but one might be able to give the correct answer from a different perspective.
As a practitioner, when one is able to apply the advice of the Buddha in one's daily life, then one is practicing the right way. However, every move one makes motivated by hidden poisons is an indication that one is truly missing the point. In other words, as long as one is able to embrace the teachings of the Buddha and skillfully use those teachings to positively change the way one thinks and acts, then one is on the right path. But if one is acting only out of selfish reasons, then this clearly shows that one has to go back to the basic principles of Buddhism.
